flamingsword: Tiny!Steve captioned Bad Body Day (Bad Body Day)

Currently, I have what is quite possibly a migraine? My brain feels like my cognition is normal but pain level is bad, light is more stabby than usual, sound is nauseating. Also since I’ve been having so many headaches, lately, I have been taking too many NSAIDs and have apparently given myself another stomach ulcer. So in all I’m doing great. /s 😅😩😣

I’m nearly done with the clinical volunteer hours for school, I’ll be done with those hopefully by next Saturday. On Friday I passed the national massage exam, the MBLEx, so now I just need to get the legislative exam taken care of before my paperwork is together for getting licensed in this state. And I would be studying for legislative test right now … if I didn’t have such an awful headache.

I just took the last of the Ubrelvy and I’m about to go take an anti-emetic bc that is feeling very necessary all of a sudden. This morning I started the two weeks of Omeprazole/stomach acid reducer pills that will help heal the ulcer (eventually). I just have to eat a fair amount of bread between now and the hypothetical day when my stomach will be healed up.

Wish me strength in the fight against the headache spirits, I guess. And for the ulcer to go the fuck away.

Oof good luck with all of this, from a chronic migraine person who is battling severe GERD at the moment! Hope your methods prevail. ❤️

I should keep this somewhere so I can share again in the future:

Histamine Related: Can be triggered by hormonal Spikes around ovulation or menses, allergies, stress, foods, or a fun combo of any of these.
- Drink Raspberry LEAF tea (only works while you drink it) Helps with bloating, mood, and pain.
- Take Magnesium supplements: our food is woefully under mineralized in the US. This helps with neurotransmitters, gut nutrient absorption (including hormonal regulation), and supports lots of other system functions. Make sure to check which one you want/need. Image search "magnesium supplements which one table" to get started
- Electrolytes with real sugar - ADHD brains need more sugar to function. We burn through them with our hyperactive brains. All electrolytes needed to function. Our bodies don't have enough from food alone to function properly. search: "table electrolytes and function" Basically we can drink all the water and eat all the healthy foods but they aren't getting into our cells/systems because we don't have "enough" of the basic nutrients to make them function.
- Anti-histamines combos - this requires daily or regular taking of H1 AND H2 anti-histamines. The H1s are Claritin & Zyrtec, take one of those with an H2 (Pepcid AC) to manage overactive histamines in the body. This is also a game changer for PMS and PMDD.

Protocols learned from headache "specialists" and neurologists which found NOTHING causing my migraines. These are the things that have worked for me:
- isometrics - nerve flossing, neck and back stretches, eye exercises, squeeze-release cycles
- 2 extra strength Tylenol at the very very beginning of feeling anything coming on. "you put out the flame when it's small so it doesn't become a raging fire." Take every 4 hours as needed but after 2 days stop and seek help. (I have to go to ER regularly before I got this advice to get the "migraine cocktail" that makes them stop)
- Excedrin - take 2 hours after the above Tylenol to manage breakthrough pain until it's time to take more Tylenol.
- muscle relaxer + caffeine - sometimes can help manage tension headaches that can trigger migraines.

Folk remedies: (some of these are passed down from my native-grandmother medicine woman)
- Dunk feet in cold/ice water - this helps the body redirect blood flow away from the head as a response to the migraine and supports circulation / blood pressure
- Salt under tongue - see electrolytes above
- Head compression - use a migraine mask to create some compression around your headband to manage/restrict blood flow externally.
- sun in the eyes/face - 30 min before sunset or after sunrise sun in the eyes helps manage circadian rhythms
- local honey or pollen - eating these will help manage local allergen reactions
- Epsom salt baths - hot water + electrolytes absorbed via skin help balance blood pressure and minerals.

I understand migraine suffering, it sucks! Also, isn't it fun when medication helps one part of the body but then harms another? /s
Hugs!
