Okay, the LGBTQ+ over-30's group is about to go live, probably tomorrow. If you are 30 years or older and in the QUILTBAG (or whatever alphabet soup we're calling the gender-sexuality-and-romantic-minorities right now), go check out the profile over here on oldqueersyellatcloud and see if it's something you'd like to hit the join button on. It's okay if you never saw that episode of the Simpsons, either. The internet has archives of memes for us unhip old folks.

Why we exist is up for debate, a bit. queerly_beloved and rainbow_lounge are among our inspirations, but sometimes they like to cede the floor to people with ahistorical views and good conversations sometimes get derailed trying to teach the young'ins about when grandpappy was a girl. There is a call for those spaces, but ... y'all. Some of us are tired.

In other news, it went from 80 degrees yesterday to highs in the 50's and my body would like to speak to a supervisor. It's ~great.~ Also two different celebrations got rescheduled today, so that I have two fewer things it is possible for me to attend this holiday season, and I'm still not sure if that's a good thing or not.

Also today I melted down some oold sugar free candy and tried to make other, different sugar free candy out of. I really need to find the candy thermometer if I try that again. It tastes like coffee and brown sugar but is sticky and slightly melty instead of being hard candy.

All of my attempts at making candy have failed _except_ for making chocolate bark, which I am very good at but haven't done in a good decade plus. I don't really have the spoons/executive function for big involved kitchen stuff anymore anyway; The Sad Bastard Cookbook was made for people like me.

See, when I'm in a depressive swing, half the time I am peanut-butter-from-the-jar depressed, but right now my spoons are about middling and I want things that get me out of my body to focus on something else. Today that was Japanese lo-fi and failing to make hard candy. Tomorrow? Who knows.

-nods- I used to go hiking when I was depressed but needed to get out of my head. I'm too crippled to do that now but it was one of my go-to coping skills for many years.

Our faux pas post is public, the "everyone do intro" post is locked [I feel the intro post should probably stay locked for privacy reasons], your "welcome to the community" post made today is locked. I set the comm to members-lock by default because some people may want to discuss personal stuff [like as one example, aging as a queer person and how a lot of us end up having to go back in the closet when it's time for assisted living/nursing homes, etc] but if you would rather it be public by default we can discuss that.
