Feel free to use this version, especially if you have blind friends or friends of friends. Apparently the formatting on the original messes with screen readers.
A song you discovered this month:
We Can Do Hard Things by Tish Melton has such good lyrics.
A song that makes you smile:
Anamanaguchi's Endless Fantasy. Dancing or wiggling in my seat may also happen.
A song that makes you cry:
My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion. Is it basic? Don’t care! It makes me think of my brother and other dead people I love.
A song that you know all the lyrics to:
Good as Hell by Lizzo tends to be on rotation in my head, so I learned the lyrics in self defense.
A song that proves you have good taste:
♥ by Coldplay, Jacob Collier, and WE ARE KING
A song title that is all lowercase:
bad guy by Billie Eilish
A song title that is all upper case:
G.I.N.A.S.F.S. by Fall Out Boy
An under-rated song:
What exactly is so bad about Wonderwall? It’s a thoroughly singable tune.
A Song title that has three words:
I Don’t Care by Judy Freaking Garland. Absolute legend.
A song from your childhood:
We Built This City by Starship. It might have been the first rock music I ever heard, it’s definitely the first song I ever loved. I went around mangling the lyrics to it at the top of my lungs a lot.
A song that reminds you of summer time:
Summertime by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong
A song that you feel nostalgic to:
Jeremy by Pearl Jam
The first song that plays on shuffle:
Full of Stars by WYS
A song that someone showed you:
Endless and Artificial by City Girl, from my acquaintance San
A song from a movie soundtrack:
Didn’t Leave Nobody But The Baby by Emmylou Harris, Allison Krauss, and Gillian Welch from O Brother, Where Art Thou?
A song from a TV show soundtrack:
Be Human by Scott Matthew. Because Ghost In The Shell: Standalone Complex was absolutely a TV show, even if it never aired in this benighted country.
A song about being 17:
Metaphorically 17, or about what 17 was like for me, personally? Because for me it was like that part of Mahler’s (1st? 2nd?) symphony where it feels like running downhill in the rain: vertiginous freedom and a chaos of thundering heartbeats.
A song that reminds you of somebody:
Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight (- which is not a true story about someone being pushed out of a boat and no one helping, though urban legends are insidious.)
A song to drive to:
The Naughty Speed Racer remix
A song with a number in the title:
nothing compares 2 u by Prince or Sinead O’Connor, both versions are good.
A song that you listen to at 3 in the morning:
After the clubs would shut down, I would often end up at a 24 hour eatery like Cafe Brazil, where they would have jazz. And while I may never have specifically heard this there, would play stuff like the Nutcracker Suite translated into jazz. You’re welcome.
A song with a L O N G T I T L E:
Champagne For My Real Friends And Real Pain For My Sham Friends - Fall Out Boy
A song with a color in the title:
Left Blue by City Girl
A song that gets stuck in your head:
Just. So many. Today it’s Velodrome by Dessa.
A song in a different Language:
Movits’ Fel Del Av Garden. I'm not Belgian, but it's a song that makes me want to move.
A song that helps you fall asleep at night:
Weightless #2 by Marconi Union
A song that describes how you feel right now:
For sleepy and comfy? Wrapped in Warmth by Multicolored Dreams
A song that you used to hate but you love today:
Toxic by Britney Spears
A song that you downloaded:
I downloaded Cape Canaveral by Astronaut Wife off of Limewire (or possibly Napster?). And then ported it to every computer I’ve owned since then.
A song that you want to share:
Have It All by Jason Mraz is how I feel about you, all of you collectively and individually. Y’all rock.

The small latin letters give me screaming fits to the point if there's a meme witht hat shit (or a post with it) we avoid the fuck out of it. (Any of us here.

Date: 2022-07-25 03:18 pm (UTC)What cover(s) do you think are better than the original?
I have a couple, but one that stands out right now for me is:
My Heart Can't tell you No by Sarah Evans.
As much as I love Rod Stewart )I liked him better before I knew what other music was) This one just...it hits you harder.

Date: 2022-07-25 03:33 pm (UTC)Whitney Houston's I will Always Love You was originally a Dolly Parton song, iirc. I also like a lot of the jazz covers on Postmodern Jukebox's YouTube channel, but I don't know if they're necessarily better than the originals, you know? They're just very different.

Date: 2022-07-25 03:41 pm (UTC)I will say that listening to it makes me think of Craimar's rather gretty personality. He's more the metal fan in our collective, to the point where I'm like...dued, listen to your shit. Because he has a hard time doing that in here with whoever else is around.
(We've had to hide for so long, that even with five or six of not having to, there are still things we have to work through about that shit.)
