Something that has been brewing in my brain for a while that I don’t think I’ve talked about yet is a new-to-me concept that I have needed my whole adult life and never had ‘til now. I forget when exactly, but I think it was December of last year (?) that I came across a Pinterest pin of the 7 Types of Rest:
• Physical Rest
• Mental Rest
• Social Rest
• Emotional Rest
• Sensory Rest
• Creative Rest
• Spiritual Rest

They’re fairly self-explanatory, I think? But the paradigm is unfamiliar. I am used to thinking of not spending energy on socializing, but hadn’t really considered it a form of recharging. I know that I like to keep my stimulation low sometimes, but hadn’t considered that those times happen after I’ve been in crowds or noisy places or grocery stores - places full of sensory information, in other words. To figure out which rests you and I need, let’s maybe list what types of rest we’re getting enough of - and by process of elimination, what we’re not getting. Most of this post is going to be me figuring out what I need and it will be behind a cut )

The spiritual rest links I’ve found so far that aren’t poisoned by toxic evangelicalism.
