You are so welcome! I was raised as a geek, and our social protocol is different for sharing things, I’ve noticed. In the dominant US culture, living your life and keeping to yourself only to infodump about how great something is to anyone who will stand still for it is considered rude. But in nerd culture, being up in everyone’s business and keeping what you love all to yourself is considered baffling and borderline hoarding things like a dragon. The expectation of what you do with enthusiasm and emotional privacy are kinda reversed?

And it’s part of why nerds get such a bad reputation socially. I’ve met geeks with good social skills who still get disinterested stares from the people who want to think that they are “normal” -which is not a real thing btw- and it’s just a culture clash. Dominant culture people don’t realize they’re being bigoted against another culture for some reason, and because of emotional privacy rules, geeks are less likely to tell them that.

It’s a problem.
