++ trips to Austin, ++ friends
Jun. 16th, 2022 01:16 pmLast Friday I paid ~$900 for my yearly eye appointment and needing yet another pair of glasses with prism for the vertical heterophoria. Oy, I was unprepared for the $300 worth of glasses. Boo, hiss.
At the weekend, for my friend A's birthday, myself and three friends trekked down to Austin, TX to play Cthulhu Fluxx, pun at each other, eat good Chinese food, sleep in a hotel with two rock hard double beds, and attend a Mad Hatter's tea party while dressed up in EGL and various other fashions. Fun was mostly had by all. (We stopped at the Collins Street Bakery off of 35 on the way down and I may be ordering cookies for people for Yule if they still do that. I went off my diet in a big way this weekend and my joints are only now back to normal size. But yum.) That is most of my birthyday money and fun money for June spent, but friend B was kind enough to drive us all down in her electric vehicle, which even I must admit was well engineered.
We got back Sunday evening and then Monday morning my phone went off to remind me that I had plans with my Mom. Which I was unprepared for. But I managed to get through the whole day while not showing how much I ached. We drove to Fort Worth and went to a big antique mall, where Mom bought me over $100 in vintage tigers eye jewelry from the 70's, and an obsidian ring with gold filigree from an unknown time period. They go really well with my Cat's Library EGL coordinate, and really up the classic vibes. We're going to do stuff for her birthyday next month, so I'm looking forward to that. Monday I also received my tiny perfume samples from Sucreabeille which mostly are good even if my skin eats half of them after an hour. Sigh.
Then Tuesday I crashed hard, and I basically slept and played mindless games on my phone. Merge Dragons is pretty, rewards you for the most basic strategy and perseveration, and I get to grow imaginary plants and mushrooms. It's basically dopamine in byte form. But dopamine is not energy to sit up and get stuff done, so that's all I did, mostly. Now I'm back mostly at the energy level I should have, but need to get off the computer and go knit a sweater. I'm on re-doing Mom's sweater and it looks good so far. I may just re-use the Aurealis sweater pattern for every damn thing when I want to make a sweater. And I kinda never don't want to make sweaters, now.
So that has been my week. I'm glad it's over even though I had fun.
