Aug. 7th, 2004 05:22 amI'm thinking of taking up the study of geology. Among other things. I'm already studying human sexuality and romantic interaction. I'm going to study normal and abnormal psychology for a bit, then once I have the words and the shapes of it, I'm going to forget the particulars and start new behavioral models of my own.
Because I could be really good at that. People mostly rely on things they've seen in life or on TV for their responses, so the first time in any unfamiliar situation, they freeze up. They react in fear of the unknown, awkwardness, frustration at not knowing what to do. But wider social variation would be a good thing. So maybe I should lend the world a hand. Or a brain. I'm sure I could make up pragmatic emotional responses, make them available to people.
Maybe it would be easier to slowly replace the provincial ways that people react in ignorance of better ways with some other way to react that had more positive options.
