This is really interesting. I did an autism research thingy too, about meditation amongst other things. Is that the sort of thing you mean?

I did mine here and it was longer when I cheated and had (a) things I’d done for a day and (b) different types of writing as different jobs, so I’m moving it to my own! Thank you for giving me something to think about when I’m having a difficult day!

I was teaching myself about autism from the scientific perspective (which is a far journey from having it) to try some citizen science. I originally wanted to design an experiment among autistic volunteers to see how different kinds of therapy had worked, failed to work, or made mental health actively worse (looking at you, ABA). I still kind of want to, but it would require me to basically get a masters degree to get any traction in the field, and then … the current political situation got progressively dicier and now I don’t want the current medical system to know what fucks up autistic folks because they’ll probably make it mandatory. (Insert joke about people killing the wrong Kennedies.)

Oh, interesting! And yeah, anything autism related is definitely to be avoided until that twat is out of the department of health (or whatever it’s called over there). Ugh.

If we get Reform in, their people have started publicly saying crappy things about over diagnosis and how things like wearing ear defenders in schools is ridiculous, and yeah. Mind you, if Reform say it this week, Labour turn round and do it two weeks hence, so…

And see, we don’t agree with our political opponents, but none of our side are trying to commit murder about it. We’re trying to give all the people healthcare and a safety net, we’ve been doing okay at that, actually, and they’re busily trying to deny healthcare to everyone who doesn’t fit their idea of deserving while making sure nobody can afford anything and that everyone gets pressed into strict social roles based on arbitrary conditions like skin color, sex at birth, wealth or its lack, and national origin. It’s a creepy freaking hierarchy and you still don’t see us killing people about it. I’m starting to think that maybe we should consider being worse people. 😕
