Tension headache & salad
Aug. 12th, 2024 08:27 pmSo today I went to pick my brother in law up at the hospital from his medical procedure, in order to keep Ghost from having to drive in Dallas, an admittedly hair-raising prospect even for me. And when I got there they still had not even taken him back. And when they did take him back 45 minutes late, it took them another 75 minutes to update me on his status and whether anything had gone wrong, when he is usually out in 25-35 minutes.
It was a very worrisome day, especially as it made me an hour and ten minutes late for work. I had called in and had them reach out to my client and they pushed her back an hour and a half, but between worrying about BIL and Ghost stuff and work stuff, I am a ball of tension. With the headache to show for it, too.
But I had a salad the size of my head, plus some no sugar added ice cream, so I’m at least no longer fiending for crunchy things.
What is the silliest thing you’ve heard this week? I need a laugh.

I used to love driving in Dallas, but nobody will let me do that anymore, for some dumb reason.
Where did this cranial-exceeding salad come from, and what was in it? I miss some of my salad sources, and nobody seems to want to hook a blond broad up.

Date: 2024-08-13 04:01 am (UTC)The place I usually get my salads is Salad And Go. https://www.saladandgo.com/ The Roasted Autumn salad with tofu and the Chicken Caprese salad with Caesar dressing instead of vinaigrette are my personal faves. Okay, sometimes the Thai Peanut salad, when I’m in the mood for that. Their drinks are amazing, and I know you’re not big on coffee but their cold brew is exceedingly good as is their cucumber mint lemonade. Crisp and with just the right amount of bite. A salad i can’t eat in one sitting and a drink will run me about ten dollars, and they don’t skimp on the proteins and fixings. It’s a good deal for a super fresh salad. I hear they also do wraps and soups, but I haven’t tried them yet. The salads are just that good.
That song made me want to cry for the first 50 seconds, ngl, but then mellowed out with the beat. Very chill, nice vibes.

There's a meditation that goes with the music. And yes, that's all mine.
I seriously miss Café Max. I also wish Souper Salads didn't dry up and blow away. When the Greenville Whole Paycheck moved they made a lot of changes to the café, so their salad bar I liked so much didn't survive the move. I suspect my team membership for the café didn't either, but I think my odds (and evens, let's not leave them out, they get so sad and feel neglected) are that I won't do that type of gig ever again.

Date: 2024-08-13 04:27 am (UTC)I, too, miss Souper Salad. Especially those little gingerbread mini-muffins. Dang those things were good.
My $15 salad plus drink had spinach, romaine, radicchio, grated parmesan, baked chicken, broccoli florets, cherry tomatoes, egg slices and Caesar dressing. It had sides of pasta salads, falafel, and blackened asparagus. The drink was a chocolate and raw cacao with reishi mushroom powder protein shake. The flavors were good and went well together, even if it was half again as expensive as I wanted and not quite as good as the simpler salads that I usually get.
Damn, I made myself hungry again.

Date: 2024-08-13 04:50 am (UTC)I was in one of the Souper Salads locations when they were closing (I was a local SFF convention) and they came out with their brand new blueberry bread. I was an instant fan, and I miss it a lot.
That's a lot in the salad, and there are things I wouldn't want. And I refuse to let this conversation make me hungry this late.

Date: 2024-08-14 11:14 am (UTC)You have more faith in me than I do in myself, which is balm for my scorched soul. I've recently been castigating myself for fangirling Neil Gaiman, but maybe I should forgive myself. And maybe I can trust Tim Walz, at least enough to smile at his smile, and definitely enough to vote for him.
hugs you gratefully

Date: 2024-08-14 02:28 pm (UTC)If Tim Walz turns out to be a mean jackass in his private life, he will still be a better candidate than either of the Trump/Vance team. I think a reasonable portion of enthusiasm will help to make getting the Harris/Walz ticket elected. And since we do need that, let's go for it. Hope is not crazy!

Date: 2024-08-16 02:28 pm (UTC)Hee! 😄😄😄 It’s weirdly awesome, right? It’s like putting bacon and maple cinnamon glaze on your chocolate chip cookies. It sounds like it shouldn’t go together at all, but it somehow does.
