Snowflake drama?

So I’m going to take a step back from Snowflake Challenge for a second, at least until there are some answers to the ongoing questions about why someone objecting to a challenge on religious grounds was disallowed from commenting on the mod comm and then bounced with no explanation.

(Plz let this not be a clusterfuck. I need a happy place right now.)

https://flameandsong.dreamwidth.org/789477.html This was the first I heard about the specifics of it, but there is Crap Going Down in the locked mod comm. I wish I could break privacy lock to spill tea, but that’s as much as I feel comfortable saying.

I don’t agree with Jon / imoveritanddone kinda tarring everyone with the same brush, but I also get why it looks terribly sus on his end of things. Plus, his past trauma with bad actors and exclusionary behavior pushes him to defend himself from threats in a way that looks kinda extreme. He doesn’t play politics, his autism is too spicy for that shit. But people who are too used to seeing the world through the neurotypical-as-default lens think that he’s doing defensive stuff on purpose as a form of offense (and then they make up post-hoc justifications why that’s reasonable, very normal of them).

I want my happy fandom fluff time as much as anyone, but not at the expense of knowingly excluding parts of those fandoms. That’s bullshit.

I will be okay, but I’ve been nonverbal a couple times this last week, from overstimulation and emotional overwhelm, and am having to slow down and take a lot of extra time for naps and self care.

I was not even that close to the cousin who died, but I cried all through her funeral because of other people’s visible pain and the brittle insincerity of her mother’s brave smile. My family is still not any good at grief, despite losing a family member every 3ish years for at least the last 20, and 2 people last year from the same branch of the family. I get that they’re a largely Catholic family with the bountiful children that goes with the stereotype, but that’s still a lot of people, and half of those deaths have been people under 50. It’s worrisome.

I worry.
