the Good Things List (2022 edition)
Sep. 25th, 2022 10:34 pmThe Good Things List is not just a list of things that I like, it is the list of things that make my brain slow down, stop chasing itself in circles, and regulate itself. It is a list of things that are calming, stimulating, and pleasurable in a mentally healthy way.
If you don’t have a list of your own yet, or a Calming Box full of tangible Good Things, may I humbly request that you start such a list for yourself? And please don’t be intimidated! This is the third iteration of this list for me, so it is now quite long.
I will be putting together a Calming Box over the next few months, since I am trying to be extra gentle with my brain now that I am in a grieving period. I should probably have done this a while back, but better late than never?
Petting kitties • Coffee (✅ packet of coffee beans) • Warm rain on my skin • Strong breezes • Sunsets (☑️make art of a sunset) • Impressionist paintings (☑️paint a fake Signac/Monet/Van Goph) • Dyed hair • Pain meds (✅ packet of kratom capsules) • Smellgoods (✅vials of perfume) • Silk (☑️get a charmeuse scarf) • Heated bed pads • Cushy socks (☑️ tiny Christmas stocking) • Pastry • Massage • Lo-fi and chillstep • Cheese • Crafting (✅ small ball of yarn) • Poetry (☑️ small book of my poems) • Good brain days • 0 spoon cost friends (☑️pictures) • Cello music • Stretching (☑️pictures of my favorite stretches) • Books and fanfic • Pajamas • Teas (✅ foil wrapped tea bags)• Hot bath (☑️tin of bath salts) • Keto ice cream • Jazz • Dark chocolate • Towels fresh from the dryer • Having enough • Rainbows • Orgasms • Superwash sock yarn (☑️sock that I made) • Freshly shaved legs • Thunderstorms • Fancy drinks • Hugs and snuggles • Puns • Jewel tones • Made up holidays (☑️find wolfenoot post card) • Museums • Libraries and book stores• Making people smile • Finishing things • Blogging • Shiny rocks (✅ piece of Labradorite) • Dice (☑️buy some more shiny dice?) • The sound of pool balls clacking • Kulning • Lullabyes
