A general reading. I need some help getting my creative spark back, and I think dealing with the external world will help with that.

According to the tenets of Osho Zen Buddhism, the outer world in some ways reflects the inner one, so this is going to straddle the line between the two.

Who you are right now is Patience, the one to whom the seasons bring all things in time. The wheel of the year or the cycles of the moon, whether fast or slow, everything necessary will get done.

Where you are on your path is Sharing, a place from which creative endeavors can flow if you are sharing of your loves, your joys, and your laughter.

The card across your path which is hindering you is Comparison, that thief of joy. Finding your way through this difficulty is going to be a matter of refusing to compare things to that which they are not. Do not compare the now to the then, the self to the other, or the works to the dreams of the works, and you will wind your way past this.

Your highest attainable good is Moment to Moment, the card for being present in the unfolding now. The physical world holds opportunities only for those stepping lightly through the present with attention and care.

Beneath you is Slowing Down. This card is your support in this moment and it indicates that now is a time to let go of illusions that keep you from living in the truth: that we are our own home, that we are struggling to quickly arrive at a home that we have convinced ourselves is not right here, and a time that is already now. We must let go of the illusion that we are not already in possession of these things.

Behind you on your path is Participation, the card that is the act of both giving and reciving as we show up to be part of something greater than ourselves. Our participation is precious to the whole, and we are valued here.

Before you on you path is Experiencing, as such your next step will be to get in touch with the outer world, as the world has much to reveal to us. Hug a tree, dance in the rain, get connected and allow yourself to feel and reflect deeply on those connections.

The card for why you want this reading is Clinging To The Past, which is what it says on the tin. When we are not living in the now, we get twisted up inside. Without the new knowledge and fresh pleasures only available in the now, it is easy to become confused, to get frayed and worn out easily.

The card for the environment is The Rebel, the breaker of chains. Something around you right now is throwing off conditioning and rebelling against the self that was, to become the unbound self. You are being offered a chance to do the same. Take the push and rise up! Go upset some apple carts!

Something that you both hope for and fear is Courage. You know how dandelions like to grow out of cracks in the pavement? They don't know what they are growing toward or how their tiny punk rebellion against the concrete is going to go, they can only bloom where they are planted - which is a lot of damn work. Courage is scary, but is the gateway to everything that is meaningful in our lives. You want it, and fear it, and you are living the question right now.

The outcome of this journey is Creativity, where we let our unconscious slip the leash and give form to the formless. You have tools that can help edit the form later, but giving birth to something new is always an act of mystery, a gamble on an unknown set of circumstances. The tools and the editing are not interchangeable with the mystery and can not replace the joyous act of creating something for ourselves.

I’m not sure about some of this stuff, so take it with a grain of salt. I hope it makes more sense to you than it does to me.

Who you are right now is The Fool, the card for innocence, with adventure awaiting, and a situation that is new in your experience. Your intuition and good heart will have to lead you in this journey because you have no experience here. Your actions may appear foolish to others, but your trust in yourself is more in your favor than their good opinion and skepticism.

Where you are on your path is Possibilities, which goes with the wide-open space of potential from the last card. In Zen, your attunement to your own nature and self-containment are what allow you to see the broad range of possibilities, because listening too much to outside voices instead of the inner voice leads us into judgment and doubt.

Your cross is Comparison, indicating that the blockage along your path is comparison of things which are not alike. Are you comparing this situation to ones in the past? Are other people comparing the new you to a version of you in their heads? I don’t know, but it’s a problem.

The Crown card, the highest good attainable in this situation, is No-Thingness. It’s the Dark Night of the Soul, the place to which you carry only the seed of yourself, where there is nothing to do, no one to impress, and only your attention to the silence to guide you. It is the place from which the soul is born. You can walk into a scary dark place and be freed by it. You have that power always.

Beneath you, helping you, you have Ordinariness, the card for finding beauty and joy in the mundane. Anything that is done with love and attention can cross the line into sacred space. Care sanctifies and makes spiritual all things.

Behind you in the recent past is the card Breakthrough, that time when enough is enough, and we must cast off burdens and illusions that were keeping us imprisoned. Sometimes this is a card for revelations, and sometimes it is a card for destruction of that which keeps us stuck in old patterns.

Before you on your path is Projections, the card for our illusions about other people. In Buddhism and more so in Zen, we try to become aware of our judgments about people, our expectations, and the stories we tell ourselves about what we want from them. Will your perception of the situation be clouded by things that have more to do with you than with the other person? Are you in judgment of others and creating problems for yourself?

The reason for the spread or the situation is The Rebel, the person who has broken their chains and must begin to take the first painful steps towards taking flight. Others expectations of you are shattered, but you must hold fast to your purpose of getting rid of the expectations you hold over yourself and fly free.

The environment around you is represented by Maturity. Someone near you is in a place of mastery and cannot be easily pushed around by the elements of fate and change. They are rewarded for hard work but may have forgotten what it is like to begin new ventures.

In the position of Hopes and Fears you have Compromise, the card for working together to achieve a goal but also of playing politics with your self-respect. It is a card of duality in a position of duality, so there is great uncertainty that comes with this path. Will you compromise with someone to attain something worthwhile, or will you lose a piece of yourself to achieve something that leaves a bad taste in your mouth? Try to achieve understanding of others and yourself before you make your decisions. Remove illusions from your mind and refuse to compromise your integrity. Negotiate boundaries and state your truths to avoid self disgust.

Final outcome: Innocence. Not the naive innocence of the child, but the wise innocence of the old who have returned to themselves and care little for the things given by others. Seek wisdom, and return to yourself.
