It feels like time to re-engage with the news, but my old feedly account just has Information Is Beautiful, Al Jazeera, some cooking blogs, and the AP and Reuters headlines.

What do you read? What brings you information that does not immediately make you want to burn things? Where do you get your news?

I've had a lot of enjoyment from 1440 and pnut which I think you'll have to google for - I get them via email.

And The Marshall Project, which I have a feed for here on DW somewhere - but that WILL make you want to burn things, because the carceral state is awful.

(Though I do like, in a non-burny way, the Life Inside feature. It oscillates wildly between "Life Inside - I realized I was awful and now I've grown up and am no longer awful, and want to be great after serving my time" and "Life Inside - here's a way the prison system is suuuuuuper fucked up" and "Life Inside - wow, we're real folks just like you, and here's an anecdote to prove it!" and you never know which you're gonna get.)

Unfortunately all the news right now makes me want to burn things.

Mostly I read NY Times, AP and NPR. Also BBC for more breadth.

Yeah, they have a full scale news website.

I do like to listen to them in the car also.

I read CBC for the daily damage report. Then my friends link me to weird leftist stuff.

Oh, I like Canadaland and their spinoffs for national news, journalism-focused. I'm doing a lot of podcasts these days.

It's not bad superficial coverage of Things That Happen In the World.

I listen to NPR News Now - five minutes of news updated hourly, but I only listen to it once or twice a day, because burning things.

allsides.com focuses on a couple headlines a day. They give a summary and links to three difference articles with biases Left, Center, and Right.

Also, entertainment news podcasts can be less intense, like Wait Wait Don't Tell Me and Because News.

Currently, we get our news - when we have the energy to get any news at all - from Tangle. Rare case of us thinking of someone being a "centrist" as a good thing.
