Snowflake Challenge #3: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
In your own space, tell us who, from one of your fandoms, would you most want to have dinner with (or tea, or a random afternoon visit), And why? This could be a creator, an actor, a costumer, a set designer, a director, a character, a composer, anybody! What would you talk about? What are you dying to know? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Hmm. Possibly Taika Waititi? And we could start off talking about fanfic and creativity and playing with tropes, and move onto cracking bad jokes about the current US path to fascism. Come to think of it, maybe get some pointers on writing humor in dark situations. But conversational drift happens, so I have no idea where that would end up or what would get covered in the meantime. And as long as this is happening in imagination-land, we could meet for lunch at my favorite Vietnamese bakery, 85 Degrees, and we could eat egg tarts and matcha sponge cake and drink frou-frou coffee and teas. COVID? What COVID?
Or possibly talk to Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch of Roman and Williams who did the set design for Practical Magic about setting a visual mood and the role of decor and atmosphere in everyday life. Ye gods, I am as big a fan of that house as I am of that entire movie. I wish someone would publish the floor plan and engineering documents for that house. Not that I’d be able to build one, but I betcha a dozen people would do it just in the US. *sigh*
