Hmm. I've been thinking about stylistic difference as opposed to material differences. Some things start off as a wholly different focus, an aim toward a point not on the popular line, having nothing to do with the polarization of the mainstream. Like the Christianized view of the world, as opposed to the pagan views: despite the various mythologies, pagans don't see this world as a thing that will end. Discuss the end of the world with your friendly neighborhood Wiccan and you'll see that they tend to assume you mean the end of modern civilization, the conversation will turn to World War III instead of The Final Trump. The assumptions about the nature and right of the world to exist are inconsistent. They aren't opposites ends of a spectrum, they're on different spectra. Like sound and light, there are superficial similarities, but the paradigms don't work to explain one entirely in terms of another.

I've been wondering about how my goal of changing the world influences the kinds of things I'm really looking at, what I pay attention to. You know how easy it is to be fixated on the details of one aspect of the world only to be blind-sided by the obvious thing that you weren't paying attention to? Yeah, I think we've all been there.

I'm starting to realize why. Or why for me at any rate. Why for other people is operating under the rules of . . . other people . . . and thus is bound to be treacherously similar-looking, lying in wait for me to act on my new ideas. I have to keep stepping back, recalibrating, to make sure I'm on the right spectrum, and that I'm speaking l33t to the geeks and English to the Muggles. Because people are where I screw up. It's so easy to think that I'm like other people, that their reactions will be on the same wavelength as mine. But somehow it winds up being in one of those other fields. I hate conversations where I find out I've been talking in the wrong language halfway through.

Drama? I have no idea what you're talking about.
