I've been doing it by ones and twos to my second family! (Last night was Redheaded Kid and JapanBoy, who are both kind of Really LDS, so it was a little nervewracking.) They have all been reasonably cool about it so far, but I haven't had a shot at the two I'm most nervous about yet...I kind of know in my HEAD that MusicalGal is Not That Kind of Person, but I have spent my Christmas break falling in foreverlove with Chord and if she says she doesn't want to be friends or want me around her child I will cry forever, and then Tall Guy is just a REALLY CONSERVATIVE MORMON, and I haven't been able to catch them alone yet so the worst is yet to come. *sigh* But still! So far it has come well, and I am convinced your necklace has magical Heidi-loves-me powers.

More like the Heidi-made-for-Lu necklace has hypnotic sparkle powers that let people recognize and surrender to how much they love you. People have a very low save-versus-shiny resistance.

If MusicalGal loves you well enough to trust you with her kid, then she is just as likely to change her opinion of GLBT bias in your favor. These things have a way of changing when it's someone you know. Maybe it's a good thing to let Tall Guy wait until last, though, since he might go to others in your social circle looking for someone to talk to and find out that everyone else knows and is fine with it. The peer acceptance context could be worth a lot depending on his social paradigm.
