Dear Billy Corgan,

Yes.
It DOES make me happy I'm so strange.

Dear Alan Moore,

It has been a thousand years since we pagans have deified a living man, but I bow before you and ask your acceptance into the divine mysteries that you hold sway over.

Dear Endocrine System,

You are a suck-ass roommate. You don't love me anymore, and that's fine, but while you live here you still have to pay rent. I expect tomorrows invoice of all appropriate hormones by start-of-business tomorrow.

Yours sincerely,
Heidi

P.S. The Dark Knight is as win as everyone says. Go see it if you haven't yet, and be sure to get there early to see the trailers.

I concur, and second the deification proposal!

Hope you feel better soon!

Hugs!

Unfortunately Alan Moore has nothing to do with any of the movies made of his works, including Watchmen, which is why you won't see his names anywhere in the credits.

He may not be credited, but it is still his story. Those are his characters being human and broken on the screen, and the fact that Hollywood can't stop stealing from the temple of his work makes him no less a god.

I'm not disagreeing with his deification, but whether this is going to be his story or Hollywood's story staring his characters. Hollywood has a history of taking comic characters in name and look, then completely ignoring the spirit of that character. It is yet to be seen that the characters in the Watchmen trailer are Alan Moore's characters and not a Hollywoodization of them and therefor not them at all. It looks promising though, but I don't see how you can cram his complex story into a two and a half hour movie without loosing something in the translation. I look forward to being proven wrong.

I didn't think that V for Vendetta could be done well as a movie. I knew that the Rosemary storyline would have to be cut and that other changes would need to be made to deal with the pacing of the story, which went at several different speeds depending on whose POV was being told. I was still pleasantly surprised when I finally gave in and saw it on the sworn oaths of friends that it did not suck.

Though I still wish I had never seen the travesty that became of Stardust, it is possible to comic adaptation right. Even complex stories that Moore writes. *shrugs* Here's hoping that it entices more people into comic fandom with not-suckitude.

First, go watch the movie trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3orQKBxiEg) then read the next paragraph.

When they say "The most critically acclaimed graphic novel of all time" they mean that. It is well written, and entertaining and it sells well, and those are fine things. But is is dark and shakes the foundations of your beliefs about heroism and human decency and will change the way you think about people and the context of their actions, and call into question the ethicality of your own. And that is HUGE.

What that comic means to me is too big to put into an LJ comment, but let me say this much: I would be much less for not having read it.
