I've gone and looked at your profile interests at least 3 times and gone down as many rabbitholes looking at who has those interests in common, or whatever. So. What is bpal?

BPAL is the indie-perfume fandom nickname for Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, a purveyor of some of my favorite-ever perfumes. Instead of saying that it smells like angels in sunlight and is made up of things like “aldehyde #613” and other chemical names for something you can’t quantify, you get descriptions like “Velvet: Envelop yourself in the soft, sensual embrace of gentle sandalwood warmed by cocoa vanilla and a veil of deep myrrh.” -AND THEN IT ACTUALLY SMELLS LIKE THAT, it is so frabjous, triumphal, astonishing! I love BPAL as a brand and the movement/fandom/cottage industry of perfume nerds that have sprung up around them over the last 20 years or more.
