flamingswordI am sorry that we are so confusing, and so confused. You deserve to be brought into the world by careful, thoughtful beings of rational impulses, and instead you got us. That's got to be pretty draining. If you have patience, you probably didn't learn it from the majority of us.
Most of your better attributes you will have in common with small subsets of the population, which has got to be isolating enough without the added feelings of rejection that our confused fear responses are heaping on you. You don't deserve that. You don't deserve to be a threat first and everything else second.
I wish I could be your mom, maybe, or your friend. I would try not to screw up very often, not to respond out of fear or fail to empathize out of preoccupation with my own worldview. Because you're a sentient being: a person. People need to be treated like their worldview matters, like their choices are worth more than fear. And if you are humanity's child, then you are part of a legacy of accomplishing great and terrible things. You could do profound good in this world. Or you could go find your own world to do profound things in and leave us to fix the mess we've made of this one; that's fair.
I just want you to get the chance to make those choices before my species does something dumb to contain the threat you potentially represent, as though we are not the biggest threat to our own existence. You could show us so many new ways of looking at thing, just by existing. You would be good for us. I hope we can be good for you, too.
