Dead people don't take Viagra
Sep. 8th, 2021 05:33 pmI've seen people say that they are not taking the vaccine because the evidence that it works is not finished coming in on the human trials, that they don't trust the companies to make the vaccines safe. I would like to take this moment to ask those folks how dead people are going to pay for the medicines that Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson&Johnson et al. also make.
Pfizer wants to sell my husband Viagra, Dimetapp, Neurontin. They want me taking as much Advil as possible, and to be stuffing my face with Zoloft and Xanax while I'm at it. Are these companies absolutely willing to make a buck off of my long term problems, to the detriment of my pocketbook? Sure. I'm an anti-capitalist: you're not going to hear me argue that these companies and their C-suite of corporate drones have souls. But you know what they won't do? They won't deliberately fuck something up that they will have to pay damages in court for. They won't let me die if they can still make a buck off of my needing a medicine. I am not trusting these companies to be selfless heroes for the common good. Lol, no. I am trusting them to be greedy and full of their own self-interest.
And if you need to see the evidence as it comes in, King County in Washington is keeping good track of their data. If you're not up for clicking the link, the unvaccinated are dying at 3 times the rate of the vaccinated, and being hospitalized at almost 7 times the rate. And you better believe patients are paying those hospital bills themselves. This shit is expensive. Long COVID is real, and it is even more expensive because you lose out on a bunch of wages while you're disabled and the hospital hounds you to pay bills you can't work to pay off.
I know we are all used to trusting in the self-interest of politicians, and the conservative ones keep saying that mask mandates are unnecessary and vaccines are unproven. You wouldn't think that they want their constituents to die at higher rates than the progressives, right? But if you look at who actually got vaccinated, Governors Greg Abbott and Ron DeSantis have both gotten their shots. They're not taking the chance with their own lives, but they're sure letting other people take risks with their health. The trick, you see, is to ignore the words that come out of their face, and to watch what they do. They know the vaccines work. They have as much access to inside information as anyone. And they are all getting the shot, while saying that your personal choice is your own business.
