Beliefs mean different things to different people. People trying to establish the healthy belief that they have value have to deal with the different things that have value, and the ways in which people value things differently, such as:
• academic/educational achievements
• helping others
• religious participation
• kindness and compassion
• scientific advancement and exploration
• time spent with family and friends
• helping/serving others
• advocating for children/the underserved
• protection of animals/the environment
Because some people see certain things as valuable that others dont value at all, the components of the belief of value will be different to different people. To build healthy beliefs it is important to recognize the components of your beliefs.
example - Belief: I can be out of control and be okay.
Components:
• don't have to "win" conversations
• can defer to others wishes
• can feel "out of control" safely
