Apr. 28th, 2019 02:56 pmSo a lot of the reason I have not been as active here on Dreamwidth is that last year I started a Slack channel, like a private Discord server or an old AOL chatroom, with just my friends who I trust to be verbally supportive and easily incorporated into group discussions. And it has gone remarkably well.
There are different threads for talking about food and fandom and gaming and relationship stuff. There are about twenty of the people whom I trust most to be able to give and take companionship, and it has helped not only me to get my socialization needs filled, but them to be a more tightly knit group. It has made me so proud of my friends and grateful for the care they take of me and each other. If this sounds like a good thing to you, I recommend starting your own Discord server or getting a Slack group, and explicitly stating your purposes and social expectations up front.
