I'll make flexible friends, laugh on street corners, and stand on my head,
So that blood rushes fizzy down every capillary
And gravity makes me dizzy as your company made me.
I won't need to contort to live in this skin,
No slow strain to warp the groundwork I live in.
I'll change it when I figure how to stop this ache
And stretch to stand tall with a back not made of break.
But reaching toward you, twisting like a vine kinked to reach
Has got me left of true, cracked foundation like a lie to you.
And that's your cross to preach.
I'll adjust and tilt and connect and creak and pop
So soon my backbone of belief that hurts will stop.
