I wonder if our brains boot up differently each morning. Do brains have a morning routine? I know that for my Aunt Rhoda her verbal cognition wasn't really on for the first ten minutes without the application of either caffeine or adrenaline, where my mother can listen and talk coherently from pretty much the instant she wakes up. Sometimes I can do that, too. Some days I really can't and I can't account for the difference.
