CBT post - the ABC's of Self Esteem

Am I returning to the CBT posts? I guess so! Long-ass prompt behind the cut.

Self-esteem has to originate somewhere, right? But where does it come from? Is it in the things we tell ourselves that we feel towards our selfhood, or is it in the actions proving those things to ourselves? Perhaps it is both the telling ourselves we have good qualities (without disqualifying those reasons) AND in recognizing our efforts and actions toward those qualities. So: it's time to play a game: below, for every letter of the alphabet, list a positive quality or neutral quality that can be seen positively.

If this is a quality that someone has told you before that you have which you did not believe them about, now is the time to write it down.

If you kinda want to put something down but think that it doesn't count because it "failed" / nobody recognized it as an effort toward that thing / you only seem to have it sometimes / some other excuse, trust me that it still counts. Write it down.

If something is "bragging" or "tooting your own horn" or "being arrogant" - I don't actually care? You're amazing! Brag on yourself a little.

Thank you! I will think about what letters I'm struggling with, because yes I need to do this exercise.
