Hey, if I print out some of this research and put it in a folder, would you take it with you to medical appointments? It's a lot harder for docs to ignore you when your recent peer-reviewed scientific studies trump their ancient medical text.
I have pulled this casually-more-informed-than-you tactic once before, and the hardest part was keeping the victory off my face when the endocrinologist backed down about trying to tell me that my thyroid being intermittently slow and my inflammation markers being high could be causing my weight gain. He and his nurses were also diet-pushers, which ugh, and also lol no. And I could tell that he was doing this to not only me but all of his other patients and that activates my RAGE BONER OF JUSTICE. I can fight for myself, but systemic injustices are easier to motivate myself for, still. I'm working on that.
